The Gent Rig

A quick post, deformation testing is continuing on the Gent Rig. I'm performing some final tweaks on the Young Lady Rig, adding our custom floating eye setup, adding additional FK joint chains to control her pony tail and strands of hair.

Once I get feedback from James I can continue bug solving on the Gent rig, meanwhile here is some emotion tests with the Gent rig and our first inter character shot with the Gent and the Young Lady rigs:

As you can see more weight painting needs to be done on the Lady rig aswell as the Gent

Gent Modelling

Here is the Turnaround for the first of 2 characters that are my responsibility to model and rig, The Gent :

Soon I will post a full indepth article about the rigging of the Gent, the pitfalls, problems and solutions to the setup pipeline of the character. This post will come once the Gent has been signed off for use in animation after initial animator deformation testing by myself and James Daly. Meanwhile here are some poses taken during the rigging process, testing for deformations on the weight painting of the body.

Final Character Design : Gent

Here is my design work for the final design of the Gent, featuring turnarounds and character clothing concepts.


Additional character work

Aswell as hand drawn concepts and digital sculpts, we also ventured into model making for our character design pipeline. This included trying to attain a range of different styles in our maquettes. We came up with a wide range of character designs in the end, which can be seen below.
